Limitations

  • Do not apply the paint on surfaces closer than 10cm to a heat source.
  • Do not apply in rain, temperatures below 10°C or above 30°C or if exposure to these conditions is likely during curing time.
  1. Preparation: Before starting your project, ensure the surface is clean, sound, and dry. For pre-painted or glossy surfaces, sand them to create a suitable key for the paint. Repair any damage with a suitable filler. For optimal results, apply at least one coat of Stonelux Primer to the prepared surface.
  2. Application: Stir the paint well before use. You can apply it using an economy natural bristled brush, foam roller, or spray equipment. For consistent and thorough coverage, apply a minimum of three coats. Be careful to avoid overspreading the paint and refrain from over-brushing or rolling. If brush marks remain visible, finish the surface with stippling. Allow 2-3 hours of drying time between each coat.
  3. Spraying: If you choose to spray the paint, use a minimum nozzle size of 1.8mm. The paint can be diluted with no more than 20% water for spraying applications.
  4. Finishing: After applying the final coat, ensure that the paint is fully dry before touching or applying any pressure to the surface. The paint should be touch dry before applying subsequent coats.

AVAILABLE FINISHES

SIMPLY STONE

SIMPLY STONE™ contains high-quality ground stone to create an authentic matt stone finish that compliments both traditional and contemporary designs.  The uniform texture and colour provides a warm and inviting natural look that maintains all the class and character of traditional stonework.

STONE FLECKS

The same beautiful textured finish as SIMPLY STONE™, but with additional stone flecks for a more naturally speckled appearance.  STONE FLECKS™ creates a stone finish full of depth that will add immense character, warmth and authenticity to any project.

ANTIQUED STONE

A classic stone finish that contains natural ground stone, combined with large stone flecks to create a simulated aged stone appearance. The prominence of the flecks provides the appearance of stonework that has been naturally altered by the passage of time, for a worn rustic feel with vintage charm.

SMOOTH STONE

The least textured of our stone finishes acquires its elegant stone appearance from natural stone flecks. Creates a matt stone effect finish that is naturally lighter in texture, uniform in colour and has a soft appearance that is pleasing to both the eye and touch.

Happy with result

Delivery ok. Paint colour as expected. Rockingham result took 3 coats primer & 3 coats paint on fireplace. Effect nice but rough. Thought it would be smooth like stone.

Absolutely fantastic

Totally transformed our fire surround. Followed the instructions carefully used primer and then three coats of the paint. I can't believe how amazing the finish is. It's saved us the expense of having to replace the whole surround and it looks fabulous. Very impressed and very happy.

Excellent Paint!

We needed something to smarten up our soot stained hearth. The fireplace is made from Portland stone so absorbs dirt easily. We’ve tried chemicals and steam washing. But two coats of this excellent paint has brought the whole fireplace back to life. Not the cheapest paint but well worth it!! Very very happy thank you.

Great Result with Stone Fleck Fireplace Paint

We had a fairly plain wooden fire surround on a Victorian fireplace which wasn't worth stripping back as looked like it had pieces of door frame added to the original timber. After searching for paint in a suitable colour to go with the other timber in the room I found this paint. The staff offered very helpful advice and the reviews on this site are also helpful in knowing what to expect. We added some carved details to the fire surround before painting and are very happy with the result. Would people be fooled into thinking it was stone? I'm not so sure as it is not that chunky, but the texture and colour is more pleasing than a painted surround. Photos show before and after. Top tips 1) do pay for the colour sample chart as we changed our mind once seeing the actual colours 2) do use the primer and apply several coats before using the stone paint (I did two) 3) do use the brushes they recommend 2) try not to spread the paint too much so don't over-load or under-load the brush 4) if it is unevenly distributed you might find patches where the colour looks darker and it's hard to even it out later 5) do stipple or use a dabbing motion for at least the last coat (I did three coats) 6) if you have details you want to preserve then use a toothpick to pick them out before the paint dries to avoid the lines being filled in (it was painstaking but worth it) 7) I did find the nature of the brushes and paint (or the method of putting it on) meant that there was a bit of spatter so do cover the surrounding area. (I had taped the edges and covered the floor but not the walls and ended up with a bit of spatter here and there).
